I got Estée Lauder Magic Smoky smoldering eyes kit as a present for my birthday. It contains two of the relatively new Estée Lauder Magic Smoky powder Shadow sticks in the shades 04 Slow Burn and 06 Scorched gold and also a mini travel size of the black primer Little Black primer. This kit comes in a beautiful box with a mirror.
Estée Lauder Magic Smoky Powder Shadow sticks
These Estée Lauder eyeshadows are in pencil form and are supposed to be great for a smoky eye. I own the two neutral shades, but the other colours in the range are quite dark. 06 Scorched gold is a gold shade perfect for everyday wear. 06 Slow burn is a gorgeous shimmery dark brown. The formulation of these eyeshadows is quite interesting, as soon as you apply them they transform into a powder eyeshadow. You get a very precise application thanks to the fact that they are in pencil form. They are very easy to blend, you can nail the smoky eye in minutes. When it comes to how well they last - they were a total disappointment. I have oily eyelids and almost all eyeshadows crease on me. That's why I usually don't comment on the longevity of the eyeshadows. Magic Smoky creased on me in less than an hour. Even if you don't have my problem around the second hour mark these eyeshadows start to fade. I am not talking about the eyeshadows not being as vibrant any more, they are halfway gone from my eyelids. I would say that these eyeshadows were a complete disappointment especially compared to the other Estée Lauder eyeshadows. Another inconvenience is that you have to sharpen them.
Estée Lauder Little Black primer
I was quite excited to try this primer, it's very popular in the blogging world. Little Black primer is a black lash primer. The revolutionary thing about it is the fact that it's black, all the other primers are white. You can use it in three ways. Applied on its own it gives the eyelashes black tint. I can see only blond women using it that way. You can use it also as a primer. There are no fibers in it. To be honest I didn't notice any difference in my lashes despite the fact that it glued them together. I definitely won't buy the full size of this primer, because I don't think that it does anything at all - no length, no volume. The third way you can use it is as a top coat. I would say that it helps when it comes to holding a curl, but you can always just use a waterproof mascara. I really wanted to write more about Little Black primer, but for me it's just a useless product.
I really wanted to like this set because of the gorgeous packaging. The truth is that there are better primers than Little black primer and better eyeshadows than Estée Lauder Magic Smoky in the drugstores. I don't think that they're worth it!
