I don’t like matte lipsticks and I can’t wait to wave this trend goodbye. There’re a lot of new gloss-stick type of lip products lately. I tried most of them and the majority were quite disappointing (more about them in other posts). The lipstick, which impressed me enough to write about it, is Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor. I think this is probably one of the best products of this type I’ve tried.
Packaging and finish
The packaging is metallic and this is kind of misleading. The finish of the product is not metallic, it’s glossy. You get 1,7 g., which makes it not that affordable. I bought my lipstick in September last year and since then Revlon has discounted the price three times. If it’s out of your budget you can wait for a better offer.
Scent
The lipstick smells exactly the same as the other Revlon lip product - Ultra HD Matte lipcolor. I really like the scent. To me it smells like chocolate with some fruity notes.
The formulation
The formulation is the reason I like this product so much. The lipstick feels hydrating on the lips and it’s glossy, but there’s no feathering. I own one of the dark shades 760 HD Vineyard and I have no problems with it. My biggest issue with these gloss-stick type of products is that they bleed and go everywhere. This product doesn’t do that.
The pigmentation
Some of the shades are well pigmented, others are semi opaque. It’s good to keep this in mind when you’re choosing a shade, the pigmentation varies across the range. I checked online which shades are available in Bulgaria and went through the swatches provided from the foreign blogs to pick my shade.
Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor is a lovely product with a glossy finish, which does not feather or go everywhere. The price is a bit high considering the amount you are getting, but the lipstick is often discounted. I definitely recommend it.
