I haven't written about books in a while. The reason is that I was obsessed with the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich. This november the nineteenth book in the series came out. Besides these nineteen books there are special edition novels each with a story dedicated to a different holiday - Christmas story, Halloween story, Valentine's Day story and s.o.. The number of published books can suggest you that the series is really good. In Bulgaria the first, the fifth, the sixth, the seventh and the tenth books have been published and not even in the right order.
The main character Stephanie is 30-years old, divorced, has just lost her job and lives alone with her hamster Rex. Being totally broke and desperate she starts working for her cousin Vinnie as a bounty hunter. Vinnie pays the bonds of criminals and if they skip their court date he sends Stephanie to catch them and bring them back. As an ex-lingerie merchant she is not that great at her new job and this causes a lot of fun situations.
Stephanie's family is also quite entertaining. She has a mother who of course wants to marry her, grandma Mazur who lives like a teenager and a father who only wants to get rid of her grandmother. Grandma Mazur can make you laugh out loud. At her new job Stephanie meets again her first love the cop Joe Morelli who has broken her heart. Her mentor is another bounty hunter Ranger who is described as an action hero. Stephanie can't decide between two gorgeous men. The books are written from her point of view and it is really funny to read what she is thinking.
The most amazing thing about the series is that the books are consistantly good and are very entertaining. You can relax after work and laugh with Stephanie Plum's adventures.
At the beginning of the year came out a movie based on the first book One for the money. Katherine Heigl was pretty good as Stephanie but the men playing Joe Morelli and Ranger were just not hot enough. The film was not very successful and probably there won't be another one. The books though I highly recommend!
